The Australian presenter, who flew to his Los Angeles home for Christmas following last year's on-air scandal that saw him referring to a female journalist as a "fat cow" and lost him a large number of sponsors, is believed to have shed a few kilograms due to a new healthy living regime.
A friend of Sandilands told The Daily Telegraph: "He's been drinking heaps of coconut water and just generally looking after himself. He has certainly lost a couple of kilos."
The former Australian Idol judge has had a number of health scares in the past few years, including a hospital visit to treat high blood pressure last year.
After flying in to Sydney, Sandilands confirmed that he had "slept well" on his flight. A source later revealed that the star is hoping that this year will be a "clean slate" for him.
A media buyer said that advertisers will be watching Sandilands for any more controversial behaviour this year, explaining: "There will be an enormous amount of scrutiny on how Kyle performs in the first [audience] survey of 2012.
"Advertisers who pulled out last year will be looking for proof they made the right decision... and advertisers on rival networks will find out if they backed the right horse."
