Michelle Obama joins Twitter

The American First Lady launched her account today (January 12), and has already garnered over 160,000 followers [at the time of writing].
She has previously used the social networking site with Jill Biden for their Joining Forces initiative joint Twitter account.
US President Barack Obama's official Twitter account forwarded a link to her Twitter page to its 11.8 million followers on Thursday morning.
The post read: "It's not every day we get to welcome the First Lady of the United States to Twitter. Happy to have you, @MichelleObama!"
In a similar vein to her husband's account, any official tweet by herself will be marked by her initials, while all other tweets will be managed by her staff.
Michelle's first tweet read: "Hi, everyone, and thanks for the warm welcome. Look forward to staying in touch with you here."
She later posted a link to the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service.
Rupert Murdoch and Simon Cowell are among other big names to have joined the website in recent months.
