The 'Nothing Compares 2 U' singer told Twitter followers that she will be "off [the] radar for [a] few weeks" as she is admitted for treatment.
The 45-year-old, who was diagnosed as bipolar in 2003, pleaded for psychiatric help on the site in the wake of two suicide attempts.
She also told her Twitter followers last week that they should reach out for help with their mental health if they need it.
"Gonna be off radar for few weeks. But will be back. Worry not (sic)," she wrote yesterday (January 17). "I'm going to hospital. Treatment for depression. Not at all well. But they will put me back together quick...so will be back.. and smiling. Prolly 2 weeks ish.
"I be grand in few weeks. was right decision to call hospital. They fab. Good team. I be me again in 2 weeks they say."
She told another concerned fan that they "should only worry if a depressed person DOESNT go hospital," adding: "all will be well. Just little time."
O'Connor recently announced her separation from fourth husband Barry Herridge. The couple had been attempting to salvage their relationship after previously planning to divorce just 16 days into their marriage.
It has been claimed that the couple split for good after clashing about O'Connor's plea for help on Twitter.
