Winfrey was accompanied by American and Indian security guards as she filmed her new series Oprah's Next Chapter in the town of Mathura on Thursday (January 19), according to Press Trust of India.
Her bodyguards allegedly became involved in a scuffle with TV journalists, apparently resulting in damage to the reporters' video equipment.
Police briefly took three security guards into custody, but released them when they apologised to the journalists in a written letter.
It has been reported that the three guards in question are not Americans.
Winfrey also posed for pictures in front of India's famed Taj Mahal on Thursday.
Earlier this week, Piers Morgan credited Winfrey with helping him launch his CNN talkshow.
Oprah's Next Chapter airs on Sundays at 9/8c on OWN.
