Simon Cowell has admitted that his relationship with Mezghan Hussainy is "quite complicated", adding that the couple are "not on [or] off".
The X Factor boss became engaged to Hussainy, a make-up artist on his former show American Idol, back in February 2010.

The couple were alleged to have broken up in September last year, though neither party has confirmed their relationship status since.
"It is quite a complicated relationship," he told the Daily Mail. "We have had a break from each other, and we are still incredibly close. I don't really know where I am at the moment.
"I'm vulnerable. It's not on, it's not off, it's somewhere in the middle. I don't know if I will ever get married, but I am happy."
Cowell also discussed his admission to have compensated several of his ex-girlfriends, saying: "I don't pay them off, but if you have been with someone for long enough, there is a responsibility.
"You can't say one minute you can live this type of life and then the light goes off. I wouldn't do it for every girl I have dated because I would be broke. You can't leave them with nothing."
The 52-year-old said that he is not too upset by the press interest in his private life, as it serves to promote shows of his such as The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent.
"Sometimes I get p*ssed off, but the only reason I am sitting here today is because my shows have been popular, and the only reason they are popular is because they have been in the papers," he noted. "These bleating celebrities, if you don't like it, don't get into showbusiness."
