Claire Danes has been named the Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year 2012 by the Hasty Pudding Theatricals of Harvard University.
The Homeland actress will follow in the footsteps of stars including Julianne Moore, Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway and Halle Berry when she accepts the honour at an event on January 26.
In a statement, the group said that they were "thrilled" to honour Danes, describing her as "an accomplished actress, who has challenged herself with a wide range of critically acclaimed roles spanning television, film, and theater".

Danes will lead a parade through the streets of Cambridge, MA, from 3.15pm on January 26, before being presented with her award at Farkas Hall at 5pm.
The star recently picked up a Golden Globe Award for 'Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama' for her role as Carrie Mathison in Homeland. The Showtime series was also honoured with the 'Best Television Series - Drama' prize.
It marked Danes's second Golden Globe win in a row, after she received a prize for Temple Grandin at last year's ceremony.
She previously won a Golden Globe for her role in teen drama My So Called Life.
