Aretha Franklin has called off her engagement to fiancé William "Willie" Wickerson.
The soul singer announced that she would marry Wickerson, who she described as her "forever friend", earlier this month.

While Franklin originally planned "a June or July date" for the nuptials, she has since cancelled the wedding.
"Will and I have decided we were moving a little too fast," Franklin told US Weekly. "There were a number of things that had not been thought through thoroughly. There will be no wedding at this time.
"We will not comment on it any further because of the very personal and sensitive nature of it. We appreciate all of the many well wishes from friends."
Franklin was given a week-long tribute by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in October as part of their American Music Masters programme.
