The actor was promoting his new film Predisposed at the festival, when he apparently fell ill and had to be rushed to nearby Park City Medical Centre.
Morgan's publicist Lewis Kay told The AP that the doctors found no alcohol or drugs in the star's system when they conducted a battery of medical tests. Kay said Morgan's collapse was mostly likely caused by a combination of physical exhaustion and altitude sickness.
The 30 Rock actor addressed his hospitalisation on his Twitter account on Monday (January 23), writing: "Superman ran into a little kryptonite. The high altitude in Utah shook up this kid from Brooklyn."
Morgan also claimed that his doctors had given him permission to fly to New York City so he could resume work on 30 Rock later today.
The comedian underwent a kidney transplant in December 2010 and also suffers from diabetes.
Last year, Morgan became embroiled in controversy when he engaged in an anti-gay rant while performing stand-up in Nashville, TN.
He later apologised during an interview on The Late Show with David Letterman by saying that he always intends to "heal the world, not to hurt anyone".
