Rebecca Gibney has made an "amazing transformation".

The 47-year-old Australian actress - who gained 13.5kg (30lb) to play a mother in PJ Hogan movie Mental alongside Toni Colette - enlisted the help of personal trainer Brad Spark, who has now claimed that the actress boasts the best body she has ever had.

Spark told Woman's Day magazine: "Her amazing transformation is largely due to her commitment to my plan. A plan is only as successful as the client's commitment. I planned Rebecca's diet with careful consideration to her training and lifestyle."

He said that he ordered Gibney to cut out caffeine, sugar, alcohol and processed food and guided her through cardio workouts and yoga sessions, enabling her to shed the weight quickly enough for her to start filming back on family drama Packed to the Rafters.

Spark said: "With a greater focus on her overall state of wellbeing, Rebecca was able to reduce stress levels and gain better sleep patterns. This will always help with weight loss."

Last year, Gibney described the experience of gaining weight as "fantastic" because it was "liberating" for her.

She said: "I can really lose myself in this role, so I haven't been conscious of how I look. It's the first time I've allowed the rest of the world to see me in my most vulnerable state and that's liberating. I'm not glamorous, I'm fat, and that's okay."
