Paul Tarascio filed the suit in New York this month, claiming that he was fired from his post on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon in 2010 for being male and was replaced with a "totally incompetent woman", reports TMZ.
Alleging that the woman who replaced him was not qualified for the position, Tarascio claimed that she often "screwed up" her job responsibilities and had to ask for help on a daily basis.
Tarascio, who is taking action against Fallon and NBC Universal, has also claimed that several other male employees were subject to the same treatment. He has alleged that an audio technician and prop master were also replaced by women as per Fallon's orders.
According to court documents, Tarascio said that Late Night director David Diomedi told him, "Jimmy just prefers to take direction from a woman", and accused Diomedi of "knowingly fabricating alleged performance issues" in order to justify letting him go.
Tarascio is suing for unknown damages and lost wages.
Fallon's representative has not yet commented on the suit.
