Baldwin previously hinted about a campaign for mayor of New York City, but later ruled out running in the 2013 election.
In an interview with Piers Morgan Tonight, the actor said he does have hopes of trying his hand at politics in the future.
"In [some] amount of time, maybe in the not-too-distant future, I'll survey that again and think, is there an opportunity for me?" Baldwin told Piers Morgan.
"In New York for example, we have safe Democratic seats around the horn so to speak, it's the governor and the AG (attorney general) and the two senate seats, so what I would run for and when it would be [is] something I'd have to give a lot of thought."
Baldwin has been quite vocal with his political views over the years. He famously defended former US President Bill Clinton during the leader's impeachment trial in 1998 and also supports People For the American Way and PETA.
The actor recently signed for 30 Rock's seventh season, but has hinted that the show's next run could feature a reduced number of episodes.
30 Rock - which also stars Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan - airs on Thursdays at 8/7c on NBC.
