The 39-year-old actress attended the Screen Actors Guild award ceremony over the weekend, where she took home the award for 'Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role' for The Help.
"I'm not trying to be a thin mint. I'm just trying to be healthy and look good for me. So another 15 pounds and I will be fine," Spencer told reporters of her weight goal, reports US Weekly.
She later said: "It's our society that has told [women] and continues to tell them that when you reach a certain age, you are no longer valuable. When you reach a certain weight, you are [no longer] valuable."
"I'm not healthy at this weight," Spencer added. "I think anytime you have too much around the middle then there's a problem."
In addition to Spencer's award, The Help won two more SAG awards - 'Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role', which went to Viola Davis, and 'Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture'.
