The legendary broadcaster was rumoured to be bidding against Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres to conduct an exclusive interview with the Duchess of Cambridge's younger sister as part of a promotional drive for her new party planning book.
However, speaking on The View on Monday, Walters said: "ABC News does not pay for interviews."

Walters continued: "I have no idea what Oprah does but we do not pay. ABC News does not pay. [Oprah] is not a news programme, maybe they have a different policy."
She added: "To make it clear. Would I like to do the interview? Yes. I think she's a charming, beautiful girl. Will we pay for doing the interview? No."
Middleton, a professional party planner, was reported to have landed a deal with Penguin to write a book about party planning last year.
It has been reported that any fee Middleton might receive for an interview will be donated to charity.
