The actress and popstar - who has twins Max and Emme, 3, with Latin superstar Marc Anthony - said that she cried when the time apart from her children began to take its toll.
She recalled on Today that she "had a moment" as she spoke to her kids on the telephone while she was busy working in Miami, Florida.
She confessed to Matt Lauer: "I spoke to my daughter yesterday on the balcony and I shed a tear, I miss her so much."
The 42-year-old has been accompanied by her rumoured boyfriend Casper Smart, who is her backing dancer, while she shoots scenes for her TV show Q'Viva! The Chosen.
