Still, I have nothing to complain about. Sad the same can't be said for poor old (eek, sorry less of the old) Demi Moore. Clearly splitting from 'love rat' Ashton Kutcher (I've never been a fan of his quite frankly) in November last year has taken its toll. The shocking and explicit recording of the 911 call made following her meltdown this weekend was really rather sad. And I mean that in the heartfelt tragic way, not a scathing, mocking, patronising way. After learning that his estranged wife had been carted off to hospital suffering convulsions, Ashton allegedly cut short his partying and gallivanting, returning to LA to be by her side. Hmmm, the whole thing sits really uncomfortable doesn't it? I'm all for a Bruce/Demi reunion personally. Come on Brucie, come to the rescue, save Demi from her pit of despair - now THAT really would be a real fairytale ending.
Not so fairytale - in fact it couldn't be more the opposite - for Halle Berry this week. Following a court case this weekend against her ex Gabriel Aubrey for alleged 'child endangerment' over their 3-year-old daughter Nahla (reports suggested he pushed the child's nanny while she was holding the little one), the divorced couple have been advised by the courts to attend parenting classes. Wow, can you imagine how awkward THAT is going to be?! Especially if Halle brings along her new boyfriend Olivier Martinez, who, after recent pictures of them playing on the beach suggest, is increasingly becoming step-dad of the year. Come on grown ups; sort it out for the sake of an innocent impressionable 3 year old!
On to lighter topics and thank goodness Corey 'and his self inflated ego' Feldman has left Dancing on Ice. Honestly, I don't know how his poor skating partner Brooke coped for so long.
After the stress and falling out with him week after week, no wonder the poor girl announced on This Morning that she was straight on a flight home to her native America. Problem was, Corey's probably been sent packing on the same plane. Eek. Still, she might be lucky, with him announcing he 'might stick around for a while' and 'try out some West End roles'. Well, with the mechanical dance moves and straw like 'strand' of hair getting its own fan base, I hope his agent is on the phone to Lord Lloyd Webber bagging him the role of Scarecrow during the next Wizard of Oz cast change. With Russell Grant taking over from Michael Crawford as Oz, and if 'Mouth' from the Goonies were to join... I'd say THAT was worth a watch.
Anyway, back to Dancing on Ice and an interesting week separating the wheat from the chaff - with Matthew Wolfenden and Jorgie Porter storming into, what is very clearly now, a two-horse race. However, some of the others aren't far behind, and with the rate of injuries and cast changes, who knows what could happen over the remaining weeks? I wouldn't rest on your laurels just yet, guys. Looking forward to this weekend's show with reported security increased for special guest stars...*cue screaming and subsequent damaged ear drums* - One Direction will be live on the ice!
I'm most chuffed and grateful as I get to go down to Elstree this Sunday to witness the carnage - and the UK's under-16s population having a breakdown at the sight of Harry, Zayn and co - for myself. I'll be sure to report back from the firing line. *note to self - must remember the ear plugs and cattle prod*.
And speaking of the soon to be UK's biggest boyband export, exciting news for fans of Nickelodeon's kids TV favourite iCarly - One Direction have signed up to the show in what is their acting debut. We're yet to see if they actually can act, but they are, as I write, filming their much hyped episode in the States with Miranda Cosgrove and co. The start of a promising Stateside career?? Hmm we're going to be seeing a lot more of our new fave fivesome this year, mark my words.
Louie Spence rocking the Dr Evil/straitjacket look on Dancing On Ice, with fellow judge Katarina Witt making a very fetching sidekick as Ivana Humpalot in her revealing power jacket.
And Denise Van Outen has put to bed rumours of a 'Johnny and Denise' Big Breakfast reunion before they've even really begun. Apparently they've still not spoken since Johnny made her 'less than welcome' as his Capital Radio sidekick. Well, with Johnny getting the 'back door' treatment back in December and Denise's career remaining strong, I wonder if he'll be quite so quick to dismiss her now...
