The sister of Nick Carter and Aaron Carter passed away suddenly on Tuesday in upstate New York. She was 25.
According to a police report released by People, Leslie's stepmother, Ginger Carter, revealed that the aspiring singer had "a long history of mental illness" and was taking prescription medication for depression for months prior to her death.
Ginger claimed in the report that Leslie was "not feeling great" on Tuesday morning and later fell in the shower. After helping Leslie to bed to lie down, Ginger said that she allowed Leslie to sleep before bringing in Leslie's 9-month-old baby "in the hopes that [Leslie] would wake up and play with" the child.
Leslie continued to sleep, but was breathing and "had all the colour to her skin" when Ginger left the girl and closed the door.
The report goes on to say that Leslie was found shortly before 5pm by her father Robert "in the bedroom not breathing or responding". He then attempted CPR and called 911, though Leslie was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Policed revealed that they found medication to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and anxiety, as well as muscle relaxants near Leslie's bed.
A toxicology report is still pending.
Nick and Aaron thanked fans for their prayers and support in light of the tragedy via Twitter on Wednesday.
