Katy Perry becomes mermaid, shows off purple hair in new ghd advert

Katy Perry has appeared in a new advert for hair company ghd.
The 'One That Got Away' singer, who is a global ambassador for the hair straightener manufacturer, posed for celebrity photographer David LaChapelle for the campaign.
In the picture - advertising ghd's new hair dryer - Perry is seen in a full mermaid costume and has long purple hair. She rests on a wooden post coming out of a body of water with a bridge in the background.
"David LaChapelle made the set amazing," Perry told Marie Claire of the July 2011 shoot.
"It was fun - I got to have purple hair which foreshadowed the real purple hair I had last fall. It's as if Lisa Frank had done The Little Mermaid."
Perry added that she is "such a fan of Disney movies" and joked that she almost kept the costume to wear for Halloween.
The Teenage Dream star has been tapped to perform at the 54th annual Grammy Awards and the Paul McCartney MusiCares ceremony.
