Geoff Huegill has revealed that he is relishing his new role as a dad.

The 32-year-old Australian Olympic swimming silver and bronze medallist, who got married to 27-year-old Sara last year, revealed exclusively to New Idea magazine that his three-week-old daughter's name is Mila.

Huegill said: "Her name is Mila - Mila Huegill. No middle name because Mila is beautiful enough on its own - just like her! Not taking anything away from my sport, but having a family is better than swimming - so much better.

"Holding her for the first time - there are no words to describe it, that this tiny little gem is all ours."

Huegill is currently training for the London Olympics later this year and said that he has become superstitious about numbers since Mila's birth. "She was born at 3.33pm, weighing in at 3.33kg," he revealed. "Is that an omen I might end up lane three in the Olympic butterfly final in London this year? Fingers crossed!"

The sports star retired from swimming in 2004, putting on 40kg in weight and suffering from depression following his retirement.

He later decided to make a comeback to the sport, winning a gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
