Reports of an alleged romance between Owen Wilson and his You, Me and Dupree co-star Kate Hudson apparently came as the greatest surprise to the woman he was dating at the time.

The actor was reportedly seeing a Los Angeles public relations executive when the story broke, leaving her mystified as she had thought their relationship looked promising.

A source told the New York Post: "They had been dating. She thought they were going to the next level, until it broke about him and Kate. When [the executive] e-mailed Owen about it, he texted her back and said, 'We have to talk when I get back to L.A.'"

"She's pretty upset, but everyone knows he's a dog," the source added.
