Penelope Cruz has stated that she is adamant abotu not letting the strains of living in the public eye dictate the choices she makes regarding her romantic life.

The Volver actress found the press attention she received while dating Tom Cruise and Matthew McConaughey difficult to stomach, but has revealed that she will not let the situation dictate her choices.

She told Contactmusic: "I refuse to live as a prisoner of fame. I'm not going to forbid myself from falling in love with an actor just to avoid being on display."
