Brooke Satchwell: 'I've had dark moments in my life'
The 31-year-old former Neighbours actress, who recently joined the cast of family drama Packed to the Rafters, said that she considered giving up an acting career after she was allegedly attacked by former boyfriend Matthew Newton in 2006.
Satchwell told the Herald Sun: "In darker moments in my life I have thought, 'I could go somewhere different and not do this job'. For sure, there have been periods when I felt like that because of all the attention [over Newton]. It's been a real frustration because the line has been blurred."
The star said that she is now happy in a relationship with film editor David Gross, adding: "Dave and I had this interstate relationship, but we are now renovating a house and living this grown-up life. All I get asked about now is marriage and babies... I would like that in future."
After Satchwell ended their relationship, Newton went on to date Charlie's Angels star Rachael Taylor, but was then accused of attacking her in a Rome hotel in 2010.
Since receiving psychiatric treatment, Newton has described his assault of Satchwell as "a complete breakdown", saying: "I was losing my mind. I was in such a state [that] they sectioned me. I utterly regret it."
