Russell Simmons, Melissa George end relationship due to distance

Russell Simmons and Melissa George have ended their year-long relationship.
The 54-year-old multi-millionaire hip-hop mogul, who co-founded Def Jam Records, said that he and Australian actress George had no choice but to split as the distance between them was too hard.
Simmons wrote on his Twitter page this week: "Long-distance relationships are to say the least difficult. For me & Melissa a few weeks ago... We agreed impossible."
When the couple first went public with their relationship, George said: "It's just, you know, fun... so much fun. I can't stop smiling. For what it's worth, whatever is going on, and it's been a while now, it's absolutely lovely."
Simmons used to be married to Kimora Lee, but they divorced in 2009. 35-year-old George split from her Chilean film director husband Claudio Dabed last year, after 11 years together.
George, who recently made a movie version of play Between Us with Julia Styles and Taye Diggs, was spotted alone on the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards in London earlier this week.
