Kerri-Anne Kennerley has showed off her new slim figure.

The Australian television personality, whose daytime TV show was axed last year after nine years on the air, said that she has been working out in the gym to improve her body shape.

Kennerley told the Herald Sun that she is now enjoying a stress-free existence, but admitted that she "drank for Australia" when she first discovered that she was being dumped by the Nine Network.

The 58-year-old star also said that she decided to start visiting the gym regularly in order to work on her "big bum".

It was recently reported that Kennerley has signed up to take part in this year's Dancing with the Stars. Sonia Kruger, who used to host the reality TV show but has now taken over Kennerley's old slot on Nine, said that she would be lending her support to Kennerley, describing her as a "legend".

Earlier this week, Kennerley likened Nine to cruise ship Costa Concordia, which capsized last month after striking a rock just off the coast of Italy.

She said: "When people are under stress they don't always do things as you would expect them to do things, and there's no denying that those Channel Nine executives are under high stress.

"There are a few parallels between [Nine] and the Costa Concordia: they veer off course, hit the rocks, try to right themselves and sink and the captain gets off first, so let's see how their year pans out."
