The Australian comedian and Kath and Kim star, who revealed earlier this week that she is lesbian, thanked her fans for their support and admitted that their reaction had stirred a whole host of emotions in her.
While Szubanski was revealing her sexuality on The Project, her name was trending globally on Twitter. On Wednesday, the star joined the microblogging site for the first time and soon attracted more than 10,000 followers.
She responded to everyone's messages of support, writing: "Have read msgs of support n am bawling my eyes out. All of u Thank u thank u thank u xxx (sic)''.
Yesterday, she wrote: "My friends I cannot tell you how great this feels!! Youse guys have put some serious wind beneath my wings! Haha xxx", before adding today: "So sorry can't reply 2 u all. Overwhelmed. Again a massive thank u all for yr continued support. So so grateful. Bless you xxx."
Earlier this week, Szubanski said that she hesitated about coming out sooner because of fear that it would affect her career, but The Australian Women's Weekly's editor Helen McCabe revealed that she would still love to feature Szubanski on the cover of their magazine.
She told The Age: "Her coming out makes absolutely no difference to me whatsoever. She will always be a cover and a story for us because of her searing honesty and her humour. [Being] funny and honest is gold to the Australian public.''
