Tom Cruise apologises to Brooke Shields

Tom Cruise has apologised to Brooke Shields over his criticism of her anti-depressant use.

The actor famously slammed Shields for using prescribed drugs to battle post-partum depression last year, and the pair became involved in a verbal war. Cruise's comments have been cited as a possible reason for the actor's split with studio Paramount last month.

However, the former Cheers actress told Jay Leno that Cruise had personally apologised to her recently.

Speaking on Leno's The Tonight Show, Shields said: "He came over to my house and gave me a heartfelt apology. I was so impressed with how heartfelt he was. I did not feel that he was trying to convince me of anything other than the fact that he was deeply sorry. And I accepted it."
