Reese Witherspoon tells Kate Middleton: "Call me any time"

Reese Witherspoon would love to be a close friend of Kate Middleton.

The This Means War actress - who met the Duchess of Cambridge at a charity event last July - has made no secret of her desire to befriend the new royal in the past, but extended her bid on television recently.

Speaking on the Ellen DeGeneres Show about the day they met, she admitted how nervous she was about impressing her.

She confessed: "I must have tried on like six outfits. I'm meeting a princess. You don't understand. You have to be wearing the right outfit and the whole thing."

The 35-year-old is mother to 11-year-old Ava and 8-year-old Deacon, while Middleton is currently childless, but Witherspoon would still like to get to know the English rose.

She continued: "I don't know, maybe we can be friends.I would like to hang out. I'm not sure she wants to hang out with me. I could see that happening."

During the show, which aired in the US on Friday (February 17), she went on to joke: "Call me. Call me any time."

Reese's new husband Jim Toth is highly amused by his wife's enthusiasm, she told the host: "My husband just thought I was so dorky.

"Whenever I am super-excited about things, my husband calls it the double-barrel. That's when I smile so big I look like a child."

The Legally Blonde star reassured DeGeneres that their meeting last year went well: "She was really nice. She was lovely. She's so composed. She seems like such a lady and I think it's so nice nowadays to see someone with such nice composure and who carries herself so beautifully."
