Shatner's World: We Just Live In It opened to the Star Trek theme tune, a television series he starred in as Captain Kirk, from 1966 to 1969.
The 80-year-old opened his stage show with a line referring to his musical accompaniment: "Thank you. You need an entrance because you put on a few years and a few pounds, nobody recognises you."
According to the Daily Mail he makes several references to death and his past on the TV series, animated show and feature films during the 100-minute performance, at one point saying: "Death is the final frontier."
While he talks about losing his horse and third wife Nerine, the legendary star also reveals how he dealt with his father's passing away.
The actor told the audience that he escorted the body back to their hometown of Montreal, Canada and opted for an inexpensive pine coffin because he thought his dad would appreciate the thriftiness.
The $#*! My Dad Says star continued: "Love is the difference between the cold light of the universe and the warmth of the human spirit. And life doesn't have to end when love is present."
