The 'Fight For You' singer, who fractured his neck in early January, emphasized that he feels lucky to be alive.
"I came out blessed, so I'm feeling very positive," Derulo told The Sunday Telegraph.
He went on to say that having a broken neck does have a positive side.
"It has its moments," Derulo said. "When I'm on a plane, it's actually pretty comfortable because I can just lean back and it just perches my head up."
The singer went on say that he could have died from the injury.
"I could not be here right now, it was very close," Derulo explained. "The injuries I sustained could have ended in three ways: I could have been paralyzed for life, I could have been gone [dead], or I could have a neck brace on for six months."
