Keira Knightley stung by gift taxes

Keira Knightley has been hit with a substantial tax bill after accepting expensive gifts as a perk for attending a charity event.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star received £6,000 worth of goodies when she attended the Silver Spoon Buffet in Los Angeles, including diamond earrings, a watch and a cashmere jumper.

When the star later received the unpleasant news that she would have to pay over £1,000 tax as a result, she took the situation in her stride.

A source told Contactmusic: "Keira had a bit of a laugh when told she had to pay the tax. She's happy to do so."
