Heather Locklear and David Spade have opted to take a break from their six-month romance.
The couple were first seen kissing at a party in March, a month after Locklear filed papers to divorce rocker Richie Sambora, but have never publicly confirmed their relationship.
Explaining the pair's decision, a source told People magazine: "Heather is still going through a lot with Denise [Richards] and Richie. It's just too soon for her to get serious. They are still friends. It's not ugly."
A friend of Spade's also said that the split "was a mutual decision".
"They are friends. They've always been friends. And they continue to be friends. There's nothing more to it than that," a pal of the actress added.
