Robbie Williams has admitted that he used to resort to fantasies in an attempt to stave off depression, but his addictive personality meant he found it difficult to stop.
Before discovering the numbing properties of alcohol and drugs, the singer has revealed he used to lose himself in waking reveries.
He told Contactmusic: "Fantasy was definitely my first drug of choice. Fantasising about being an actor, being a singer, going to the moon, or whatever. I don't know if that was just to escape depression."
