The breakfast TV presenter was admitted to hospital last Tuesday (February 21) after falling off a horse and being stamped on by the animal while training for a celebrity pentathlon.
In a message read out by stand-in host Nadia Sawalha on Lorraine today (February 27), Kelly said: "Thanks to everyone for the get well messages. It was frightening, but I'm getting better and hopefully will get out of hospital in the next couple of days.
"The operation went well, the wound is healing nicely, but my left leg is black and blue and swollen, so its twice the size of the right one and I'll probably have a big hoof-shaped scar.
"But I'm getting there and all your cards and good wishes mean such a lot. I'll be back to work as soon as the doctors let me."
Sawalha added that she had been to see Kelly in hospital and described the 52-year-old as "one brave bird".
