Miley Cyrus hits back on Twitter over pre-Oscars death threats

Miley Cyrus has responded to death threats she received through Twitter ahead of the Oscars.

The apparent threats have been deleted but Cyrus's response is still up on her Twitter account.

Cyrus replied to a particular Twitter user whose profile reads: "We want Miley the wh*re dead ! She's a f**king s**t!"

"U have nothing better 2 do than hate? That saddens me. Im surrounded by love Im sorry 4 whatever happened 2 make u so bitter," The Last Song star posted on her Twitter account in response to comments that she is "white trash" and "f**king hideous".

Cyrus later replied to a fan: "I wont tolerate someone telling me 2 die. I think Twitter needs to take some responsibility and make it a safe environment!"

Over the weekend, Cyrus attended Sir Elton John's 20th annual Oscar viewing party with boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.
