Jimmy Carr wants Hollywood career: 'They're okay without me for now'

Jimmy Carr has said that he hopes to crack Hollywood in the future.

The 8 out of 10 Cats comedian admitted that he is interested in launching a US career, but has grown accustomed to the "sense of community" that exists in the UK.

"I was in talks with 'Hollywood' people last year," he confirmed to The Mirror. "It was very flattering, but they seem to be doing alright without me.

"I'm sure I'll give it a go at some point, but there seems to be a lot of hanging around going on over there, and sitting around for months waiting for something to happen would rub my work ethic right up the wrong way!

"I don't want to sound like I lack ambition, but I like Britain - I feel a real sense of community here, that just doesn't exist anywhere else."

Carr also said that he is satisfied being part of the country's thriving comedy scene.

"Comedy is as big here as it could ever be right now," he proclaimed. "We've got some great comedians, such as Lee Evans and Michael McIntyre who can captivate 16,000 people in an arena, which is an incredible skill to possess.

"I don't think I could do that [though]... I feel that what I do is enough - I haven't got what it takes to do the bigger venues."

Carr also claimed this weekend that he "take[s] no pleasure" in offending people.
