Chris Tarrant's wife denied her marriage is in crisis and said the star had just been a "twit".

Ingrid Tarrant denied reports of last week which claimed the presenter had been spotted snogging a woman in a bar. She said he had been very drunk on the occasion and that women often hurl themselves at her husband in bars.

"Chris certainly wasn't aware of kissing anyone," she told the Daily Mirror. "I think he was so drunk wouldn't have known what he did. If anyone did know what happened, he'd be the last to know."

"All the wealthy desperate Surrey housewives go to that bar - their behaviour is quite ghastly," she continued. "I've been there when completely drunk women throw themselves at him. They lift their skirts up and have no knickers on. It's disgusting."

Tarrant himself acknowledged the event at the R Bar, in Esher, at the weekend. "Things are not good in the Tarrant household, it's fair to say," he admitted. "Hopefully we'll be able to work things out. Unfortunately, like many married men before me, I went on a pub crawl which regrettably ended with a wild party where much drink was taken."

Ingrid denied the problem, however. "Chris was out and about in town getting stupid and drunk but everything has been blown out of all proportion," she explained. "Sometimes I moan about my husband, like people do. Sometimes I moan about my children, like parents do. But all couples have their rows, it's healthy."
