The actress host recently told The Huffington Post how she would have dealt with Cameron's comment that homosexuality is "destructive" if her upcoming Bravo chatshow Kathy were on the air right now.
"If we were doing the show this week, we would state the obvious, which is while we were watching Kirk Cameron's interview on Piers Morgan [Tonight] and hearing his rather... I would say he's not a progressive thinker... but there's a part of me that was watching that interview thinking, 'When they show those Growing Pains pictures, you kind of look like a hustler'," she quipped.
Griffin also admitted that although she is fascinated by Cameron's controversial comments, she would never consider actually interviewing the actor-turned-preacher.
"I don't think the best idea would necessarily be for me to have Kirk Cameron on. I think it's more like I look in the camera and say, "Did anyone else think that he looked like an old school hustler?'" she joked. "'By the way, for a homophobe, he sure is obsessed with bananas.' So it's not necessarily about me screaming, 'You look gay to me!'
"It's me just kind of bringing up whatever thoughts or musings I have that hopefully people will share."
Cameron's comments have not only been condemned by GLAAD, but also by his former Growing Pains co-stars Alan Thicke and Tracey Gold.
The actor has refused to apologise for his comments thus far, instead accusing those who criticised his remarks of 'slandering' him.
Griffin's series Kathy premieres on Bravo on April 19 at 10/9c.
