The Australian radio and television personality, who is best known as a judge on Australia's Got Talent and one of the hosts of The Kyle and Jackie O Show on 2DayFM, is believed to be writing memoirs based on the last few years of his life.
A publishing insider said that the book is being pitched as a "warts and all" account of Sandilands's life, his split from wife Tamara Jaber in 2010 and his public spats with fellow celebrities such as Rove McManus.
The autobiography, which will allegedly be written with the help of a ghostwriter, was reportedly pitched unsuccessfully to various publishing houses a few years ago.
The source told The Daily Telegraph: "There are two publishers seriously looking at it this time around. The project is about three weeks away from being confirmed and ideally will be ready for release by the end of the year."
Sandilands was dumped by various sponsors last year when he launched a verbal tirade against a female journalist who criticised his TV show, calling her a "fat slag" and threatening to "hunt her down".
His friend Brian McFadden later said that he was concerned for Sandilands's state of mind, saying: "[He's] been really down. I think everything's getting on top of him. I don't know if it's depression, he's just not a happy camper at the moment."
