Kerry Katona has said that she will be "eternally grateful" to ITV's This Morning for giving her a "second chance".

The Celebrity Big Brother star made an infamous appearance on the daytime magazine show in 2008, during which she appeared to slur her words. However, she made a return to the sofa in 2010, before landing a more regular correspondent role.

Writing in her OK magazine column, Katona spoke about attending the "brilliant" Television and Radio Industries Club [TRIC] Awards last week, at which the show scooped the 'Best Daytime TV Programme' title.

"I was sat on the table with everyone from This Morning and I had such a giggle with Jeff Brazier and Gino D'Acampo," she said. "This Morning won the award for 'Best Daytime TV Programme' and they asked me to go up on stage with them all to collect it."

She continued: "It was amazing feeling part of the team, they're like a big family. I really felt like I'd won a personal battle with myself because it just goes to show how much I've come full circle - no matter how low you get in life, you can always turn things around.

"What I love about This Morning is that they get all walks of life on there and they give everyone a second chance, I'm eternally grateful for that."

Previously discussing her 2008 interview with Phillip Schofield and Fern Britton, Katona said it had been a "wake-up call".
