Tyra Banks, Glenn Close to be recognised for communications efforts

Tyra Banks and Glenn Close are to be recognised by the New York Women in Communications Foundation.

The former supermodel will be honoured for founding her entertainment company Bankable Enterprise Inc, while Close will be praised for co-founding the website Bring Change 2 Mind.

The ceremony takes place in New York on April 12.



Bankable Enterprise's various projects include America's Next Top Model and Banks's former talkshow.

Bring Change 2 Mind is a national campaign that works to end "the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness".

Last month, Banks graduated from Harvard Business School after enrolling in the university's Owner/President Management Programme.

Close's lead performance in Albert Nobbs was well-received during the award season, earning nominations from the Screens Actors Guild Awards and the Academy Awards.
