Kardashian was attending a launch party for her perfume True Reflection in Hollywood, when a woman approached and dumped flour over the reality star's head.
The attacker, who allegedly targeted Kardashian because she has worn animal fur, was arrested on the scene. Kardashian appeared to play down the incident when she later spoke with the press.
"Like I said to my make-up artist, I wanted more powder, and that's a whole lot of translucent powder right there," Kardashian joked.
A PETA spokesperson has now insisted that the organisation played no role in the flour throwing, but suggested the altercation should serve as a learning experience for Kardashian.
"PETA has tried everything from polite letters to public protests, but Kim Kardashian has not been moved by the news that animals are beaten, electrocuted and even skinned alive for real fur garments," the PETA rep told TMZ. "Whoever threw that flour may reach her when our polite appeals did not."
Kardashian once again discussed the matter with E! News and said that she was determined not to overreact.
"I'm fine. You have to laugh it off," the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star declared. "I brushed off and came right back out."
Khloe Kardashian has praised her sister poise on Twitter, writing: "I'm proud of how Kim handled the situation."
