Donna Air has been acquitted of parking permit fraud.

The 32-year-old model and television presenter applied for a parking permit in the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea despite already having one for the City of Westminster, which is against council regulations.

According to The Telegraph, Air used her lack of intelligence as an excuse for breaking the law, with her barrister saying that there was "not a great deal in her head but hot air".

In court, Air insisted that her permit application form was filled in by a member of staff and she had no idea it was illegal to hold two permits for just one vehicle.

She also cried while talking about the 2011 car accident which left her wheelchair-bound.

After the verdict, Air said: "I have never been in a court and it's very scary to be accused of something you have not done. It's an experience I will not forget in a hurry and I am very pleased the jury saw what the dynamics of this case were about very quickly.

"I am going to see my little girl and give her a big cuddle as mummy's been stuck here for no reason."

She also said that there must be "better ways" to use public funds, adding: "I think of the knife crime in the area I live in, and they are using public money on this."
