The Girls Aloud star sent a gift to Ashley's brother Matty to mark his 30th birthday at London's May Fair hotel, the Daily Star reports.
"Cheryl arranged for a cake to be delivered and sent a gift via Ashley's mum," a source told the newspaper.
"Ashley's mum still loves Cheryl and so does Matty."
They added: "He recently had another child and Cheryl sent flowers and presents and now she's done it again. They were all incredibly touched."
It has been claimed that the lyrics for a new Cheryl song called 'Screw You' which emerged online are about Ashley.
The footballer was reported to have told his ex-wife last autumn that he does not want to start a family with her if they reconcile.
Ashley was previously said to have proposed to Cheryl last summer.
The couple first wed in July 2006 but divorced in September 2010 amid claims of Ashley's repeated infidelity.
