Uwe Boll - a German filmmaker infamous for his mindless, violent movies - has defeated his critics once and for all - in the boxing ring.
The director, often beaten verbally for films including Blood Rayne and House of the Dead, threw down the gauntlet in June for reviewers to take him on in a real-life punch-up.
At the weekend Boll eventually got his way, with four critics stepping into the boxing ring in Canada. The 41-year-old, who has also trained as a boxer, knocked out each one - despite one slight scare.
Richard 'Lowtax' Kyamaka, of somethingawful.com, joked to the crowd that Boll was a terrorist - before being knocked to the floor in one round. "I thought it was a PR stunt and it was a joke and he was going to be nice," the writer commented later. "And then he just brutalised me."
Aintitcoolnews.com's Jeff Sneider, up next, also bowed out early after a technical knockout. Chris Alexander, from Rue Morgue magazine, did manage to phase Boll by spitting out fake blood half way through, but was soon knocked out.
"I freaked him out exactly like I wanted to do, it was poetry," commented a pleased Alexander. "It was my Jedi mind trick to try and disorient him."
To complete his mission Boll proceeded to defeat writer Nelson Chance Mintner. "They were badmouthing me but they showed balls going into the ring," a jubilant Boll declared afterwards. "Now they are brain dead and they will like my movies."
