Jessie J BlackBerry event stab victim dies

A man who was stabbed at a BlackBerry BBM party which featured performers including Jessie J has died.

Father of two Phillip Sherriff suffered fatal injuries after being attacked with a bottle at the event, which took place on Tuesday evening (April 3) at Pulse nightclub in central London, The Sun reports.

Sherriff, a married telecommunications professional from Preston, Lancashire, was rushed to the Royal London Hospital with neck injuries following the attack. Medics operated on his skull to remove pressure from an injury to his brain, but the man died this morning. His family have been informed.

Company director Ashley Charles, 25, from Leicester, appeared at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court yesterday (April 7), accused of attempted murder. He was remanded in custody over the incident, which police are now investigating as murder.

Charles spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth, and an application for bail was refused.

Celebrities attended the Blackberry BBM party in South London venue Bankside Vaults on Tuesday evening, but the night ended with a shocking stabbing inside. Witnesses told photographers that two men became involved in an argument, before one of them plunged a broken bottle into the other man's neck, causing life-threatening injuries. Jessie J was reportedly coming off stage at the time of the incident

"A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course," a Scotland Yard spokesman said.

Hundreds of guests - including musician Chipmunk, cast members from The Only Way Is Essex and Made in Chelsea, and competition winners - were present at the party.

Charles will attend Inner London Crown Court on April 20.
