Megaman cleared of murder

So Solid Crew star Megaman was cleared of murder at the Old Bailey yesterday, after spending a year in custody awaiting retrial.

The rapper, 27, who appeared under his real name Dwayne Vincent, told reporters outside the court: "I have finally been released from a system which has been designed to keep people behind bars whether they are innocent or guilty. I was an innocent man from the beginning - nothing has changed and nothing ever will change."

He was acquitted of encouraging his friend and former So Solid Crew member Carl Morgan to shoot Colin Scarlett in November 2004. Morgan was jailed for life on October 2005 for murdering love-rival Scarlett after shooting him four times outside his London home.

Several members of the disbanded rap collective have been convicted of criminal activities in recent years. However, Ashley Walters (formerly Asher D) is carving out a successful film career, playing the lead in critically acclaimed drama Bullet Boy in 2004 and recently starring alongside 50 Cent in Get Rich or Die Tryin'.
