The singer's book Cyndi Lauper: A Memoir will be published by Atria Books this autumn and is to feature her rise from an I-Hop waitress to international popstar.
Lauper said in a press statement she is hopeful that her life story will help others overcome adversity to achieve their dreams.
"Sometimes I come off good, sometimes not so good. But I never wanted this
book to be anything but my truth," she explained. "It's not about what people think of me, but what I learned along the way. And if telling the story of what I went through can help someone else, then it's worth it."
Lauper's literary deal with Atria will also see her record her memoir for an audiobook release.
The 'True Colours' musician has sold more than 50 million albums globally, with her most recent record Memphis Blues being released in 2010.
Lauper will also star in the upcoming WE TV reality series Cyndi.
