Anderson Cooper has apologised for erupting into a fit of giggles while discussing the Polish celebration Dyngus Day on his CNN series.
The journalist began laughing uncontrollably on Anderson Cooper 360 during a feature on the Dyngus Day tradition of girls striking boys with pussy willows to show romantic interest.
Poland's cultural group the Kosciuszko Foundation has now complained about the segment, particularly taking offence to Anderson appearing to suggest that Dyngus Day is "so stupid" amid his giggling.
Cooper took to Twitter to clarify that he actually was not referring to the holiday as "stupid".
"Just learned some groups believe I called Dyngus Day 'so stupid' in [my] ridiculist [segment]. I didn't. I was saying my giggling fit was 'so stupid," the news anchor tweeted.
Cooper added of Dyngus Day: "Sounds like a fun celebration. Genuinely sorry if I offended anyone."
The CNN host previously erupted into giggles on-air last summer when covering an incident where actor Gerard Depardieu was alleged to have urinated into a bottle while on an airplane.
