New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg told reporters that Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy will appear in an advertising campaign designed to encourage tourism.
"Having Kermit as a Family Ambassador for New York is pretty exciting and I know it will make other cities - listen carefully - just green with envy," Mayor Bloomberg said.
The new ad campaign will feature The Muppets offering tips on New York City's finest restaurants and attractions.
This is the latest in a series of honors for The Muppets, who were given a prestigious star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in March.
A sequel to last year's hit film The Muppets is apparently in the works, but writer-star Jason Segel will apparently be less involved with the follow-up.
