The controversial TV presenter was interviewing Jamie Oliver on last week's edition of his Friday night chat show when he asked: "Do you think we should put something in the water supply, stop some people having children in the future?"
A subsequent shout from the audience led the host to remark: "There's one," as he pointed to the perpatrator. "We could have stopped that happening. See what I'm saying?"
His comments have attracted 61 complaints to date, but the BBC has defended Ross, claiming the incident is "not out of character".
