Meatloaf denies chasing fame

Meatloaf has admitted he never wanted to be famous when he was younger.

The singer claims his striving to become a successful musician was never fuelled by a desire for celebrity status. He also admitted his admiration for celebrities who can cope with the stress and business of a celebrity driven lifestyle.

He told Bang: "I can honestly say that being famous was the last thing I wanted, but I didn't put two and two together and realise that if I was successful I would also be famous. I never wanted people to recognise me or to be a star... that was never my intention. That's not what drives me. Some people are driven by fame but I'm not one of them.

"Take Paris Hilton for example, she thrives on fame. I actually admire her for coping with it all. I couldn't do what she does. It would drive me out of my mind going to all those parties and premieres and all that."
